Re: Youngsters depart from the Hammers
There have been a number of others told that their contracts will not be renewed and are free to look for other clubs.

I assume they will only be made offical when they actually find another club.

Shame that, thought Whitehead would have been a good prospect

Re: Youngsters depart from the Hammers
When i first saw him pre-season (can't remember if it was this year or last) he looked decent.

Shame, obviously hasn't kicked on as expected.

It happens, hopefully he can start again at a lower level and progress.

Re: Youngsters depart from the Hammers
Whitehead has looked pretty pony every time i've seen him, apart from a couple of occasions.... those times he looked completely pony.

Re: Youngsters depart from the Hammers
A lot seem to be on their way out

I think the fact our u21 side have won 1 game all season shows that as a group there are alot that are simply not good enough

Re: Youngsters depart from the Hammers
Harney looked decent at U18 level but never really kicked on - can't remember if Injury affected him. But no surprise that either of these have been released.

The surprise is with a couple of the others who have been told they can go.

Well it doesn't show that, but I can understand why people would think that.

Polite....

It does to an effect, it shows that the core of that side...Bywater, Sadiler, Lee, Page, Lleget etc.....

cannot win matches at level so how can they be expected to have an impact at a higher level ?

Re: Youngsters depart from the Hammers
polite is right cud be any number of reason. maybe thats why pottsy has just been promoted to u21 manage. the season tomkin got into the first team the u21s had an awful time

Rossal 4:44 Wed Jan 28
Re: Youngsters depart from the Hammers
exactly, Tomkins was one from that group.......

So the majority of that group wasn't good enough

Re: Youngsters depart from the Hammers
I think Sadlier is gone and Lee is also measn to be

Re: Youngsters depart from the Hammers
mate a club is lucky if they ave 1 youth player make 1st team in every 3 years. sumtimes clubs get a flux of players like man utd did once and southampton but most dont so 1 player making it eveyr few years is probably all most can hope for mate hence why sullivan has said in the pas about the acedemy cost too much because big team get the best young players and then nick anyones you get anyway

Didnt state otherwise Trev......just saying that after lots of promise over the last 18 months - 2 years the majority of the current crop of u21's are not good enough.

Trevor B 4:51 Wed Jan 28
Re: Youngsters depart from the Hammers
no change from any other year then mate i like going to watch the u21 if i can but even when they are doin well the majority of them aint anywhere near good enough for the first team not even the bench

Re: Youngsters depart from the Hammers
If that to be true Eggy after quite a few of them have gone out on loan spells either we've been really shit the last 18 months or this group was massivly over-hyped
